Product Overview

This beautiful painting shows Type VII U-99 submarine taking out the tanker "Ferm" on March 7th, 1941.

The commander of U-99 was Otto Kretschmer, the most successful U-boat commander of World War II and on December 26, 1941 he was the first U-boat commander to receive the Swords of the Knight's Cross.

I was told that this was painted by the Cuxhaven painter Carl Schmidt however I am not going to disassemble it to look at the signature.

19 x 14 inches.
