Product Overview
The Luftwaffe was officially established as a branch of the German Armed Forces on February 26, 1935, with collar tabs introduced shortly thereafter on April 14. These tabs followed patterns used by the DLV (Deutscher Luftsport Verband) and featured waffenfarbe (branch color) to indicate service roles. In 1942–43, Luftwaffe Field Divisions were rapidly formed from air force ground personnel to replenish losses on the Eastern Front. These units were identified by distinctive Jägergrün (rifle green) collar tabs, introduced in January 1943. Due to poor combat performance, most divisions were disbanded or destroyed, and the remaining units were transferred to Army command on September 20, 1943.
