Product Overview
Large white porcelain tureen made for the Luftwaffe by Rosenthal. It stands on a raised foot, with fully sculpted lion head handles on each side. The underside carries the Luftwaffe eagle with Fl.U.V. (Fliegerunterkunftsverwaltung, the Luftwaffe barracks administration), the Rosenthal crown mark and the date 1936, an early date for Luftwaffe tableware. It measures about 31 cm (12 1/4 in.) across, including the lion heads. Tableware with this mark was used in Luftwaffe barracks and mess halls. The tureen has no lid. The glaze is clean and bright, with light wear to the foot rim. Very good used condition.
