Product Overview
Donation can for the NSV - the German organation, The National Socialist People's Welfare (German: Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt, NSV) which was a social welfare organization during the Third Reich.
This can is in pretty good shape and has much of the paint remaining.
The NSV began in 1932 as a local welfare organization and mainly provided money to poor, deserving families in Berlin. This was a forceful propaganda tool for the Nazi Party which soon centralized and administered the NSV. By 1938, it was one of the largest organizations in Germany. It offered child care, health, and medical services, and promoted Nazi family and population policies. The annual fundraising campaign was a major event throughout Germany.
Much like our Salvation Army bell ringers, people rattled these cans to elicit donations for soldiers on the front line. Once you made a donation, they gave you a donation pin/tinnie.
