This piece was used to commemorate the 1933 pilgrimage to view the Holy Tunic in Trier. The cathedral of Trier houses what is said to be the tunic that Jesus wore before his crucifixion. For more information click here. It is constructed out of a die stamped tombak base that has been bronze washed. The obverse features an embossed tunic above a circular backing with “Trier 1933” to the base and is all above a square thin cross. The hollow back reverse is maker marked “Kissing Menden” (they are still in the business today selling Religiöse Devotionalien items) and has a soldered on round plate that is marked “Ges. Gesch”.
